COTES DU RHONE APPELLATION
Historical Background
The Beaumes de Venise vineyard obtained its Cotes du Rhone classification in 1956.
THE APPELLATION
Throughout the appellation area, red, white and rosé Cotes du Rhone wines are produced. The red wine is made from parcels of free falling vines. It is a quaffable, fruity wine to enjoy young.
The rosé and white wines are produced in small quantities, and are very different from one estate to another, thereby explaining their non classification as a cru. However, in spite of this, they often come from parcels with the appellation classification.
The white wines are extremely aromatic, highly mineral and refreshing as they come from the higher vineyards.
The rosé wines are chewy, winy and highly fragrant.
