WINE TOURISM IN BALMEENNE LAND
Discovering an exceptional site
The Dentelles de Montmirail are the first foothills of the Alps in the Rhone Valley, but do not be mistaken, the vegetation is typically Mediterranean, the kingdom of aromatic plants and herbs, Holm oak trees, Alep pine trees and caper plants.
Nestled at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail massif, we find several villages with their enchanting names (Suzette, Lafare, La Roque-Alric, Beaumes de Venise….)
The natives of Provence humanized these rocky hillsides by planting vineyards, their knowhow maintained harmony between nature and farming, producing two wines which are today among the most prestigious appellations.
A magnificent road winding through the vines, and if you are lucky to wander around in autumn, you will be delighted by the palette of colours that Nature offers in the Dentelles de Montmirail Massif.
The three limestone mountain chains offer their sunny south sides to you, protected from the Mistral wind in winter, and reserve their shady faces on the north side for hot summers.
The Dentelles de Montmirail offer you great places for climbing, hiking and mountain biking, all in an exceptional environment.
